A so-called meme has many different uses and can take the form of an activity, a photo or video, a concept or an idea. They are especially useful for quickly spreading news across the internet and are often associated with social media content. Photos that are given a different meaning by witty comments are especially popular. Generally, the word "meme" comes from "mimema and means "to imitate".
